Publisher's polychrome cloth binding known as the "aux feuilles d'acanthe" binding, with a gilt roundel, blue endpapers with minor and marginal discolouration as often, gilt edges. Binding by Magnier et ses fils.

Headcaps very slightly softened.

A pleasing copy, with very little foxing.

The novel recounts the picaresque adventures of Claudius Bombarnac, "a reporter of the 20th century," during his journey on the Trans-Caspian railway line between the port of Uzun-Ada and Peking. Le Château des Carpathes is a Gothic novel set in Transylvania.
