Souze featuring a fan-shaped design, with the title printed on two lines and no mention of Martin Paz; lower cover of Lenègre type “e”, with central medallion on a black ground; gilt lettering at foot of spine: Hetzel éditeur and A. Lenègre relieur (partly rubbed away).

Some foxing, more pronounced towards the end of the volume; a pale dampstain surrounding and affecting the central medallion on the lower cover.
