First illustrated edition, uncommon, with 60 wood-engraved plates by Gustave Doré, engraved by Huyot, Jonnard... Edition with the first address: Quai de l'école, preferable to the second.
Half old red morocco binding with corners. Jansenist spine with raised bands bearing title, author and date at foot. Series of double fillets on boards. Light traces of rubbing. Corners and boards rubbed. Paper superbly fresh, of exquisite whiteness, except for one signature lightly browned and a slight trace of dampstain to upper margin of one engraving, and foxing to upper margin of table of contents.
Rare condition in contemporary half morocco with beautifully fresh paper.
