Science fiction novel set in 1757 in Hungary. The Frenchman Henri Vidal comes to find his brother to attend his wedding, which will be disrupted by Wilhelm Storitz, determined to take revenge for having been rejected and whose power is to make himself invisible. This novel originally written in 1898 was revised by Paul Verne. The Invisible Man by Wells had appeared in 1897. This is the second work where such a phenomenon is treated. This novel was adapted for French television in 1967.

Adventure novel set mainly in Australia whose heroine is a woman searching for her missing husband. The original title of the novel was to be Lady Franklin, as Jules Verne wished to write a tribute to all women in general and to Sir John Franklin's wife in particular, who devoted her life to finding her husband who disappeared on the path to conquering the North Pole and also devoted her entire fortune to this cause, unfortunately in vain.

Written in 1894 and appearing for the first time in 1898, Le Superbe Orénoque is an adventure novel about a girl in search of her father. The novel is based on the stories of the explorer Jean Chaffanjeon who made several trips to Orinoco River and in this part of the world (South America) from 1884-1886.

Science fiction novel in which an island containing an entire city is propelled by propellers. The protagonists are a quartet of musicians, allowing Verne to convey his love of music. Several acerbic remarks about Wagner can be read. A large part of the novel takes place in French Polynesia.

The particularity of this binding is that it is actually the portrait binding for L'île à helice whose red title cartouches on the first board and spine have been masked by new labels, as can be noticed by running one's finger over the cartouches where one feels a thickness. This type of alteration has been observed on other titles. The depletion of stock while the new chosen bindings would be those "Au globe doré" surely led to these small modifications, very rare and curious for the collector.
Beautiful first plate with fine gilt on red ground. Corners very lightly rubbed, quite rigid. Head slightly rubbed with a micro cut. A 0.5cm split at the lower joint at tail. Spine with a whitish stain above the medallion. Copy slightly warped. Some scattered foxing.

Renowned English college, Antillian school only admits young men from the West Indies, 9 boarders are awarded travel scholarships. They experience a turbulent sea crossing to the West Indies archipelago, the captain and crew who welcome them being in fact criminals.

This is the same printing that served for the publisher's different formats: in wrappers, half-shagreen, or clothbound.

Second illustrated edition. It benefits from a new printing with substantial modifications to the text and engravings. The 6 polychrome plates are printed in dominant tones of blue, greenish, pale. The later edition with red medallion will have only 3 polychromes out of 6. 52 illustrations by Benett.

In this novel, Jules Verne returns to adventure and recounts the incredible adventures of his reporter hero during his train journey on the line from Ouzoun-Ada (in Turkey) to Beijing. One notes with amusement the presence of a German baron attempting to travel around the world in 39 days.

La Maison à Vapeur is a historical and adventure novel set in India, shortly after the Sepoy Rebellion whose memory is at the origin of the plot. The novel features a revolutionary means of transport: a gigantic steam elephant pulling two comfortable wagons that travels without needing railway tracks.
