Hetzel publisher's binding known as "fan" binding with "an elephant", lighthouse spine, first cover polychrome signed Engel, second cover of Engel "i" type. Head and tail slightly rubbed, original blue endpapers lightly sunned at margins as usual, two corners bumped. La Maison à Vapeur is a historical and adventure novel set in India, shortly after the Sepoy Rebellion whose memory is at the origin of the plot. The novel features a revolutionary means of transport: a gigantic steam elephant pulling two comfortable wagons that travels without needing railway tracks. Good fresh copy.
