Minka, granddaughter of the Rothschilds, and Karl-Hans Strauss, were important patrons and collectors of art and music close to André Malraux. Their correspondence seems to reveal that in the 1970s the old writer was hunting around the world, with his last companion Sophie de Vilmorin, for works for their collection. At the end of his life, he thus rediscovered this youthful passion which inspired his first work, La Voie Royale.

It was undoubtedly in 1926 that young Antoine, freshly hired by the Latécoère company, future Aéropostale, met Josette Arnaud's father, while he was making his first flights between Toulouse and Dakar.
The two friends would meet again thirteen years later, when, having become one of the most famous French writers, Saint-Exupéry returned to his adopted city to contribute to the war effort. In September 1939, having returned from the United States where he was promoting his latest book, Terre des Hommes, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry was indeed mobilized with the rank of captain. He was assigned to the air base of Francazal, in a bomber pilot training unit. It was on this occasion that he trained Josette's brother, while in the evening he amazed the youngest with his famous card tricks, as the young girl testified under another dedication on Courrier Sud.
Unable to be content with a figurehead role, Saint-Exupéry would not stay long in Toulouse and would obtain his transfer to an aerial reconnaissance squadron which would inspire his Pilote de guerre.
But at the dawn of one of the most terrible tragedies of the 20th century, it is a story of courage and fraternity and the account of a great human and humanistic adventure, that the future author of The Little Prince decided to offer to this young girl, testifying to their complicity and his great respect for children and their capacity for wonder.

Tériade, whose real name was Stratis Eleftheriadis, arrived in Paris in 1915 and discovered Parisian bohemia early on, making the acquaintance of Christian Zervos. He participated in the creation of the famous surrealist magazine Minotaure for which he served as artistic director until 1936. He also founded, with Maurice Raynal, the magazine La bête noire then the magazine Verve to which the greatest artists of the 20th century contributed, such as Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, Georges Braque, Fernand Léger, Joan Miro, Pierre Bonnard, Henri Matisse... Tériade also published several art books, bringing together the most important poets and artists of the second half of the 20th century, including the sublime Jazz illustrated by Henri Matisse, a masterpiece of the illustrated book.
Very rare and handsome copy of this moving text with an autograph inscription from the author, considering that he had the entire print run withdrawn from sale.

Julien Gracq knows his friend Ariel Denis is a skiing enthusiast: "I'm not quite sure where this card will reach you: no doubt you are grappling with cross-country skiing problems in this season prone to avalanches: I do hope nonetheless that you are being careful."
He promises him his next work: "... In any case I will send you Les Carnets du grand chemin in about a month" and encourages his friend: "I hope you are working vigorously to clear the ground on that new novelistic life you told me about. I am quite curious about it."
Finally, the Vendée hermit extends his wishes for the coming year.
