First edition, one of 60 numbered copies on pure linen paper, deluxe printing after 30 on Japan paper. Handsome copy despite the boards slightly shadowed at head. Work illustrated with sketches by the author and which is an account of captivity of a French soldier taken prisoner by the Germans in August 1914. MCharpaux." (In homage to the dear country and distinguished President Mr Lenoble this little "essay" which is not worth any of those of Montaigne! But where he will find, with some memories, the sketch of a thesis. In testimony of my warm sympathy. MCharpaux.)
