Friction to the jaws and headdresses. Good copy. Two sections of a catalog describing a similar edition pasted on a cover page. Curious set of short articles bringing together knowledge and forgotten old ways on a variety of factors: purple, crystal, fruits, markets, precious stones, pyramids, baths, music, games. The first part deals with sixty-three subjects related to ancient and often drawn from ancient authors. The second part is filled with new discoveries, always in the form of short articles:

First edition of the opening text, one of the few copies on Johannot paper, the only printing. This volume also includes Jean Genet's 'Les bonnes' and Boris Vian's 'Les poissons morts.' A fine copy, as new, complete with its errata leaf.
