Full brown morocco binding, spine very slightly faded with three raised bands, beveled boards, front board ornamented with the large plate of the original copper that served for the illustration of the work's frontispiece, endpapers and pastedowns of Japanese paper, frame of two black and gilt morocco fillets on the pastedowns, all edges gilt, covers preserved, superb binding signed M.T. Aigner.
The subscription fascicle written by Henry de Montherlant is bound at the end of the volume.
Our copy indeed contains a suite of the large compositions on China paper and not on Rives as indicated in the printing justification.
