New edition of the French prose translation, established by V. Philipon de La Madelaine and first printing of the illustrations.
Half red shagreen binding, spine with four raised bands decorated with triple gilt compartments adorned with gilt floral motifs, red paper boards, a light scratch to front board, marbled endpapers and pastedowns, top edge gilt.
Work illustrated with 300 vignettes as well as 25 plates printed separately on China paper by T. Johannot, Baron, Français and C. Nanteuil. Occasional light foxing without serious consequence.
