First edition on ordinary paper, marked service de press (advance copy) at foot of lower cover; the only large paper copies were 5 on Japon and 17 on Hollande paper.
Contemporary Bradel binding in half saffron cloth over marbled paper boards, spine with gilt floral motif, double gilt fillet and date to foot of spine, black shagreen title piece (faded) to spine, two corners very slightly bumped, covers and spine preserved (with some staining).
Handsome autograph inscription from Hugues Rebell to Alphonse Daudet.
