First edition, one of the press service copies on bouffant paper for each volume. Valuable autograph inscriptions signed by Henry de Montherlant to Charles Maurras on the front free endpaper of each volume: « Respectueux hommage » and « Hommage respectueux ».
Charles Maurras exerted a decisive influence on Henry de Montherlant, as evidenced by these two inscriptions. The founder of Action française was indeed one of his openly acknowledged masters, as he writes in his preface to L'Exil in 1929, the two men sharing a certain conception of Mediterranean antiquity. An interesting mark of Montherlant’s loyalty towards Maurras.
