First edition on ordinary paper. Bradel binding in navy blue half box, smooth spine lettered in gilt, patterned paper boards, covers preserved (the front with a skilfully executed marginal restoration) along with the spine, binding signed Boichot. A few marginal tears restored without loss. Illustrated with photographic plates. Precious signed autograph presentation inscription from Colette to Valentine Hugo, painter and muse of the Surrealists: "Pour Valentine Hugo, beau nom, beau visage, - l'âme a suivi". Colette, by then an emancipated woman, recounts her life with Willy. The captions to the photographic reproductions are biting with irony.
