Collection of the speeches, public statements and political writings delivered or published by Victor Hugo from his return from exile in 1870 onward, during his terms as deputy and later senator. The collection was first published in two volumes by Michel Lévy frères in 1876, then by Calmann-Lévy in 1885; the present copy belongs to the illustrated collected works edition, a venture launched in 1876 by the publisher Eugène Hugues.
