Edition illustrated with 150 in-text wood-engraved vignettes and 24 beautiful full-page plates (including 2 maps) steel-engraved after Morel-Fatio, Tellier, Gigoux, Daubigny, Debon, H. Bellangé and Alfred Johannot. It also includes 8 additional hand-colored engravings, including 2 of coats of arms and 6 of costumes, which are not found in the first edition of 1843.
Publisher's binding in full black and polychrome cloth. Light rubbing traces. Small lack of gilding at foot. Very occasional pale foxing on clean white paper.
