First edition, one of 15 lettered copies on pure wire, the only large papers. Our copy is lettered "N". The text, written in Russian by Trotsky during his exile, was first published in French in the translation by Victor Serge. It was not until 1931 that it appeared in Russian and it did not receive an English translation until 1937 under the title "Stalin School of Falsification".

Signed autograph medical prescription for morphine chloride and opocalcium

Autograph medical prescription signed by the famous Docteur Petiot, written on his letterhead at 66 rue Caumartin and dated October 8, 1942. Stamped in red ink by the pharmacist Chapon, Boulevard de la Chapelle, Paris.
The infamous doctor prescribes morphine chloride and opocalcium guaiacol for his patient - a certain Henri Pain living at 66 rue des Flandres. We know of another prescription for heroin hydrochloride written for the same patient a few months earlier.
These two prescriptions closely spaced in time for heroin derivatives and morphine lead us to believe that they were fraudulent, since

A moving large-format shot of the writer at the very end of his life, looking almost Christ-like, seated in an armchair hands folded in his lap, as if resigned to his tragic fate.
Antonin Artaud was the first of her famous series of artists portraits which also included Giacometti, Picasso, Soulages and Miro pictured in their studio.

First edition in Engel's cartonnage cloth binding 'aux deux éléphants', with the palmettes on the last cover without the central macaron (which appeared as early as 1877). The later two-elephant covers are by Lenègre (from 1878). For the first time in the history of this collective edition, the order of the texts is reversed and the work begins with Le tour du monde en 80 jours, as is indicated in the title.
