Autograph letter dated and signed by Maurice Chevalier addressed from his property "La Louque" in Marnes-la-Coquette to Alice Rim (10 lines in blue ink, envelope included).
Crease mark inherent to folding for mailing, letter with letterhead featuring Maurice Chevalier's famous boater hat in upper left corner.
The letter is addressed to Caro Canaille, pen name of Alice Rim, Carlo's wife:
"3 - 1- 55,
Chère Caro,
merci de la pensée. J'arrive de Londres où j'ai fonctionné à la T.V. et me prépare à roucouler içi - la - et la bas (sic) Que 1955 vous apporte santé - travail - amour. Ami. Chevalier". ["Dear Caro, thank you for the thought. I'm coming from London where I worked on T.V. and am preparing to coo here - there - and over there. May 1955 bring you health - work - love. Friend. Chevalier"]
Carlo Rim was a Provençal writer, author of "Ma belle Marseille", a caricaturist, a filmmaker and was notably the friend of Fernandel, Raimu and Marcel Pagnol but also of Max Jacob and André Salmon whom he met in Sanary.
