Second edition, illustrated with a portrait, a title-page vignette, a colour frontispiece and numerous black-and-white engravings in the text, after watercolours by Aranda, Beaumont, Myrbach and Rossi. One of only 50 copies printed on Japanese paper, constituting the deluxe issue, without individual limitation number. This edition appeared one year after the first illustrated edition.

Contemporary full red morocco, signed at the foot of the front pastedown by Michel & Fouque Frepes (signature somewhat difficult to decipher). Raised bands to spine, with four compartments decorated with gilt floral tools within ornamental borders, gilt rolls at head and foot. Gilt ornamental borders to covers and elaborate, broad gilt dentelle turn-ins. All edges gilt.
