Publisher's red and gold boards signed Paul Souze and bound by Engel. Spine in half red shagreen with decorated compartments. Special plate on upper cover, Tartarin in a medallion flanked by 2 figures and 2 animals at the bottom. Lower cover with central laurel crown and frame of palm branches. Gilt edges. 2 leaves slightly protruding. 2 corners slightly turned. Foxing, mainly in the margins.
Clouzot (Guide du bibliophile français), does not mention this printing in publisher's boards.
