Polychrome boards known as "au portrait collé", a portrait of the author taking place in a cartouche on a board with a world map. Plaque signed Paul Souze on a cannonball. A. Lenègre on the ink. Fine upper board with some traces at the top of the binding. The 2 lower corners slightly bumped. Spine faded with dulled gilt. Head slightly sunken. Rear board bearing 3 fine scratches and scraped areas along the joint. Pale browning on the endpaper and title page, thereafter occasional browning.
