Publisher's polychrome boards known as "A l'éventail et à un éléphant", all edges gilt, original blue endpapers, second cover type Engel "i" according to Jauzac. Spine lightened, upper corners slightly frayed, blue endpapers marginally lightened as usual. Adventure novel in a humorous vein rare for the author. The action takes place around the Black Sea.
