First edition of this historical novel written by Antony Thouret while incarcerated in the prisons of Saint-Waast. Binding in half morocco green morocco, smooth back decorated with a central and gilded floral pattern, golden date tail, marbled paper plates, guards and contreplats of handmade paper, blankets (dirty and doubled) preserved, binding of XIXth posterior of a few decades at work. Rare book illustrated with a portrait of the author and an off-text figure engraved on wood by Eugene Forest. Our copy is enriched by a signed autograph letter of three pages Antony Thouret to his publisher Ladvocat in which it is particularly question a second edition of the book which will be enriched with a second preface, some scenes main and a quantity of interesting notes.
