First edition illustrated with a frontispiece and 24 etchings on chine collé by Félicien Rops and Emile Thérond (the frontispiece and 18 of the vignettes are indeed by Rops). Contemporary half brown shagreen binding. Spine with raised bands decorated with fillets. Some rubbing. 2 corners slightly bumped. One of Auguste Poulet-Malassis's first productions in Brussels, the F. Rops frontispiece is a heliogravure reworked with etching and drypoint. Monograph of all Parisian balls, a fashion particularly followed by all social classes at the time.
