Handwritten postcard with André Malraux's autograph inscription written from Delhi to their friends Minka and Karl Hans Strauss, 12 lines in blue ballpoint pen. The postcard shows a view of the Taj Mahal. "Chers amis, nous faisons un voyage admirable et voyons mille merveilles. André va très bien. Nous partirons demain pour le Bangla Desh et le Népal..." ("Dear friends, we are having an admirable journey and seeing a thousand marvels. André is doing very well. We leave tomorrow for Bangladesh and Nepal...") Separated from his wife Madeleine at the end of the 1960s, André Malraux formed a second relationship with the writer Louise de Vilmorin and moved with her to the Château de Vilmorin in Verrières-le-Buisson. After her death on December 26, 1969, André Malraux continued to live at the château with Louise's niece, Sophie de Vilmorin, who became his final companion and cared for him until his death on November 23, 1976.
