Le violon de faïence is a novel by Champfleury featuring two collectors of rare ceramics, one of whom is a violinist. La légende du violon de faïence, by the illustrator of Le Violon de Faïence, evokes the life of Champfleury who had just died and old Rouen. Adeline recounts anecdotes about the creation of the novel.

André Tillieu the Brusselian, very close friend and biographer of Georges Brassens, maintained an epistolary correspondence with Alphonse Boudard for almost thirty years, from 1972 until the latter's death in 2000.
The witty Parisian writer very quickly showed him his friendship, considering him as one of the rare critics to understand him perfectly to the point of clearly explaining in his chronicles what he himself expressed only incompletely and sometimes confusedly in his books.
André Tillieu therefore became part of the small circle of Alphonse Boudard's true friends on the same level as le Gros Georges (Georges Brassens), le Niçois (Louis Nucéra) and René Fallet with whom he loved to share hearty well-watered meals and cycling outings. As death gradually took away his best friends one by one, André Tillieu would remain one of Alphonse's very last buddies.

This project for reform of the Egyptian Civil Code was developed during the reign of Ismail Pasha. It appeared shortly after the inauguration of the Suez Canal. The Viceroy then Khedive of Egypt, who had been educated in France, notably at the Staff College, showed a sincere desire to open Egypt to progress.

A prolific and fertile writer, La Calprenède entered the literary world at the moment of the apogee of the precious and pastoral genre of which L'Astrée by Honoré d'Urfé was already the model. He added princes, kings, and sword fights, in short the ingredients of the chivalric novel, such as Tasso's Jerusalem Delivered; the result is a series of abductions, combats, thwarted loves, in short an incredible mixture between the pastoral genre, that of chivalry and that of Greek and Latin adventure novels, the author seeming to play skillfully with all domains to satisfy his public. His works were much appreciated and read, but they were never considered serious, like their author, a good-humored Gascon gentleman.
Faramond is the author's last novel, and was left unfinished; La Calprenède wrote only 7 books of it, which his death interrupted. Once again the adventures and exploits of the noble heroes unfold in a destabilized political world, which these same heroes will restore to peace.

Throughout Europe, the physicist's work on electricity was acclaimed and translated. His presentations are indeed clear, enhanced with personal observations and experiments. In each of the fields addressed within the domain of electricity, each work forms a compendium of contemporary knowledge. If the physicist's name was fairly quickly forgotten compared to that of his colleague Abbé Nollet, it is simply because the latter demonstrated more entertaining pedagogy and scientific popularization while Bertholon's work is that of a scientist. Promoter of his friend Benjamin Franklin's lightning rod invention, he invented several machines using electricity, one to prevent earthquakes, and 2 for plants, the electrovégétomètre and an electrical rain system.

From page 169, the handwriting is different, more careful, more spaced out, with initial letters, capitals... (some titles and letters in bold). Each quotation is preceded by a thematic title which can be found in the table.

The work is not a classical collection of Latin quotations, but a systematic survey of everything remarkable in each work. The Metamorphoses, for example, are studied book by book, and it is the same for all the works selected. It is thus that this anonymous collection was intended to allow excellent knowledge of Latin authors, not through a few well-known quotations, but through the memorization of large extracts on all the subjects addressed in the principal Latin works.
