New edition, with some parts in first edition, carefully collated with the first editions and augmented with a large number of variants. Half green sheep bindings, spines slightly faded with four fine raised bands set with friezes and gilt fillets as well as wavy lines and blind typographical motifs, navy sheep title and volume labels, marbled paper boards, marbled endpapers and pastedowns, marbled edges, contemporary English Romantic bindings signed by Charles Hering. Work illustrated with a portrait of the author as frontispiece to the first volume. Handsome copies almost entirely free from foxing, elegantly bound by one of the greatest English binders of the period.
