Second edition, revised, corrected and enlarged, with an engraved frontispiece portrait of Anne de Gonzague, a headpiece and several tailpieces.
These apocryphal memoirs, published anonymously and presented as the work of the princess herself, are attributed to Gabriel Sénac de Meilhan. The text is preceded by the literary portraits of the princess drawn by Cardinal de Retz and by Bossuet, together with a letter by Armand-Jean Le Bouthillier de Rancé. The work closes with letters presented as being by Anne de Gonzague, followed by an errata leaf.
Contemporary full mottled calf, covers framed in blind, flat spine decorated with gilt double fillets, red morocco title label. Some rubbing to the binding, one corner worn, scuffing to the joints and spine, a rather conspicuous restoration to the lower corner of the back cover, occasional light foxing to a few leaves, small loss to pages 115 and 241.
