Bindings of midnight blue morocco with corners, spine with 5 raised bands, author, title and volume numbering gilt, marbled paper sides, marbled paper endpapers and doublures, top edges gilt.

A few small rubbed spots, spines a little sunned, some foxing, chiefly to the edges, faint pencil marks to a few leaves.

A handsome copy of these Pensées de M. Pascal sur la religion et sur quelques autres sujets, first published by Port-Royal in 1670, here enriched with commentary by the archivist-palæographer Auguste Molinier (1851-1904) and reissued while preserving the seventeenth-century spelling.
