Hetzel publisher's binding "au globe doré" in full red percaline signed Engel, front cover polychrome signed Blancheland depicting various gilt navigation instruments in a frame of gilt chains topped with green plants, back cover of type "h" as indicated by Jauzac, spine with lighthouse decorated with several color and gilt illustrations, original blue endpapers, all edges gilt. Gift inscription in ink on the half-title page.
Spine slightly faded and rubbed at headcaps, blue endpapers replaced, corners very slightly bumped, a discreet restoration at the foot of the front cover joint.
