First and only octavo edition illustrated by L. Benett also featuring numerous photographs and chromotypography plates. Hetzel publisher's binding "à l'éventail et à l'éléphant" in full red cloth signed Engel, polychrome first cover signed Engel, second cover type "i" as indicated by Jauzac, spine with lighthouse design, original blue endpapers, all edges gilt. Spine slightly sunned and lower headcap somewhat depressed, original blue endpapers marginally discolored as usual, corners slightly bumped, some minor foxing mainly at beginning of volume, glue mark in left margin of half-title page. Posthumous novel, L'Agence Thompson and Co. recounts the unfortunate adventures of a cruise meant to take its passengers to the Azores, Madeira and the Canary Islands. Handsome copy.
