First edition, one of the presentation copies. A pleasant copy. Signed and inscribed by Jorge Semprun to Professor Georges Blin. Georges Blin, a specialist in the works of Baudelaire and Stendhal, was a leading literary critic and academic. Alongside Vladimir Jankélévitch and Jean Wahl, among others, he served on the Sorbonne jury before which Emmanuel Lévinas defended his doctoral thesis, Totalité et infini. Blin was also director of the Bibliothèque littéraire Jacques Doucet at the Universities of Paris (Sorbonne, 1961-1988), Professor of Modern French Literature at the Collège de France (1965-1988), and subsequently Honorary Professor at the Collège de France.
