Half green morocco-grained shagreen binding, smooth spine decorated with a gilt cartouche adorned with cold arabesque set with dots and gilt fillets, gilt friezes at head and foot, marbled paper boards, combed paper endpapers and pastedowns, top edge gilt on deckled edges, original wrappers preserved, contemporary binding.
Autograph inscription signed by Guy de Maupassant to Monsieur Olivieri.
Provenance: from the library of the Count de Keller with his bookplate bearing the motto "Vaillant et veillant" pasted on the front pastedown.
