First edition illustrated with 29 plates, 24 headpieces and 89 in-text vignettes, by Gavarni, Huart, Guerin, all wood-engraved.
Contemporary half green shagreen. Spine with raised bands and gilt compartments. Rubbing to head and raised bands. Pale scattered foxing, irregular, sometimes not affecting the white paper at all, other times speckling the margins; overall, fairly little foxing.
Following in the tradition of the famous Diable à Paris, but with less prestigious writers, a satire of foreigners in Paris.
