The first edition, published in a small number of copies. Half fir-green morocco binding, spine slightly faded with five raised bands set with gilt dots decorated with gilt double compartments richly adorned with gilt typographical motifs, red morocco title, place and date labels, gilt fillet on marbled paper boards, marbled endpapers and pastedowns, contemporary binding. Our copy is enhanced with a signed autograph note from the author in which he proposes to a person to postpone their meeting to another day. Work illustrated with a beautiful frontispiece drawn and engraved by Félix Bracquemond. Fine bookplate pasted above the reproduction of a photograph representing Charles Monselet also pasted on a pastedown.
