Publisher's binding in full chocolate shagreen. Spine with false raised bands decorated with interlaced figures 30 and 40. Boards decorated with a pattern of figures 30 and 40, with a border frieze. This pattern is repeated on the green endpapers. Spine uniformly faded to tawny. Light rubbing to corners. One nick at head.
Very fine copy, perfectly fresh.
Art critic and political journalist, his comic and satirical novels earned him great renown, notably Le roi des montagnes. Le Trente et quarante is a game around which loves will form and dissolve. This vaudeville later became a musical comedy filmed by Grangier in 1946 with Martine Carol. Carteret: "Interesting publication".
