First edition, illustrated with 210 costume plates and 4 colored title vignettes, hand-colored and heightened with gum arabic. The total number of plates varies from copy to copy between 180 and 211 plates, depending on orders placed by buyers while the plates were not yet all off the press. Contemporary half-navy shagreen binding. Spine with false raised bands decorated with compartments composed of thick and thin fillets. Navy shagreen paper boards. Signs of rubbing, notably on the boards. Generally quite fresh, with some pale foxing, particularly on the first leaves. All tissue guards present, in good condition, without foxing. The text belongs to travel literature combining descriptions and customs of various countries of the world. The volumes are classified by continent.
