Illustrated edition of 75 inset on wood for volume 1, 66 for volume 2, 74 for volume 3, 94 for volume 4, and 85 for volume 5, all designed by Alphonse de Neuville, Philipoteaux .. The fifth volume was written by Madame de Witt, daughter of the author, according to the notes left by him. Some color cards. Signed editor's cartonnage Charles Magnier, red and gold. Half red chagrin flat percaline. Back to false nerves adorned with four emblems of French royalty: the salamander, the sun, dolphins and a crescent moon. Plates adorned with a large red and gold plate bearing in medallions the figures of several kings, against a background of red foliage. White moiré guards. Some slight traces of friction in headdresses and bit, otherwise, beautiful copy , in a superb condition, despite scattered foxing on a white paper, strong on the front pages (of a different paper). Minister of Education, Guizot played a key role in the history of education and this book is the result of his reflections.
