This promenade is mentioned in the surveillance reports of the Conciergerie: « Le détenu a été conduit à la promenade à 8 heures, a déjeuné à 9 heures et est retourné à la promenade de 10 heures à midi où il était encore lorsque nous avons été remplacés. » (11 May 1892)

Autograph letter of Joris-Karl Huysmans signed to Camille Mauclair, 44 lines written in black ink, 3 pages on a folded sheet, handwritten correction of the author.
Two restorations using strips of paper in high and low fold of the letter, the second band very slightly affects a word of the text, a fold inherent in the enveloping of the letter.
A long and beautiful letter in which all Huysmans' respect and interest are shown for the writings of the young Symbolist generation.

In 1950, Boris Vian described him as follows: « Vingt-quatre ans, un mètre 68, cheveux hirsutes, yeux noirs, poids 50 kg ; il fut successivement parasite, prisonnier, étudiant, résistant, écrivain, gigolo, puis époux. This letter, from the amorous correspondence that Bataille addressed to Denise Rollin during the war and Occupation, contains in embryo the feelings that explode throughout Bataille's entire work. Incessant ebb and flow of love and suffering, of ecstasy and disappointment, of calm and energy, mixing familiar and formal address, compliments and reproaches, this letter resembles its author and the era: « Comment pouvez-vous être assez aveugle pour ne pas voir le mal que vous me faîtes en vous laissant aller au premier caprice venu ?
