    Contemporary temporary binding in full cherry paper boards, flat spine without lettering, minor rubbing to the binding.

    Foxing, restorations to the head and tail of the spine, lower corners worn, a dampstain to the lower outer corner of the final leaves.

    The text of Horace is in Latin only.

    This rare folio edition was preceded in 1815 and 1818 by two small-format printings intended for student use.

    First edition from the Didot presses of Bond's commentaries. Pages with red borders. Preface in French and text in Latin. Bond's notes are distributed around the text following the model of Renaissance typography.
    Publisher's binding in full brown cloth, smooth spine slightly faded, joint cracked one cm at head of lower board, front board hinge split, endpapers and pastedowns darkened as usual.
    Very handsome edition of the works of Horace, with typography executed by the Didot workshop in particularly refined lowercase letters. Work illustrated with 10 original photographic vignettes printed in sepia and mounted, two double-page maps and 6 photographic landscape views mounted.

    Contemporary soft vellum binding. Smooth spine with pen-and-ink title at head. Soiling to spines and boards. Several gatherings loosened in volume I, one in volume II. One perforation to title page of volume I, due to a crossed-out passage in margin. Leaf 131 in volume I partially detached. Leaves 151, 153 detached. Leaf 193 detached. Good copy, fresh.

    First edition from the Didot press of Bond's commentary. Printed on blue-tinted paper. Main text within a frame, with commentary distributed around it in smaller type. 11 title vignettes.
    Contemporary full brown morocco binding with red morocco doublure decorated on pastedowns, signed E. Gougeon (Algiers). Smooth spine in Jansenist style. Title and date in gilt. Richly decorated pastedowns with central frame, fleurons in the corners and several successive frames; wide frieze. At the center the initials C. de G. All edges gilt.
    Cut to margin of half-title, lacking the right corner. Title page creased and reinforced, same for the last leaf. Light rubbing at head. Handsome copy.

    Full grained sheep binding, circa 1900 (pastiche of a contemporary binding). Spine with raised bands, decorated. Roulette between the bands. Red morocco title-label. Head worn, as are corners and edges. Numerous gatherings browned. Leaves 128 to 131, lack at bottom of page filled with restoration paper that has browned.
    Critical edition considerably annotated and commented.
