Salammbo

New edition, undated, with the characteristics of the 1879 edition: identical collation and printing on tinted laid paper. Copy expanded with the eight etchings drawn and engraved by Pierre Vidal, including a frontispiece, published by Lemerre in 1884; All these plates have been printed on Holland paper. The Lemerre edition of 1879 forms the definitive edition corrected by the author, with 470 variants compared to the 1874 Charpentier edition, removing and modifying passages and words. Original wrappers preserved.
Contemporary half red shagreen binding. Smooth spine decorated with a mirrored iron tool lengthwise, gilt fillets, traces of staining on the spine. Top edge gilt. Foxing concentrated on several pages and notably certain engravings.
