Binding in half long-grain navy blue morocco, smooth spine decorated with gilt romantic arabesques, minor rubbing to spine, marbled paper boards, marbled endpapers and pastedowns, covers (lined and with corner lacks) and spine preserved, top edge gilt, romantic pastiche binding signed by Ratry.
Work illustrated with a frontispiece, 170 text vignettes and 11 hors-texte compositions engraved on wood and printed on China paper.
