Illustrated edition with 25 original etchings and 80 wood engravings drawn by Alexandre Lunois and engraved by Suzanne Lepère, one of 125 numbered copies on Arches handmade paper, the only printing after 21 on Japan paper. Full dark green morocco binding, faded spine with four raised bands inlaid with black fillets and decorated with purple and tawny mosaic morocco strips forming a double cartouche segmented by the bands and by three black mosaic morocco rectangles, three gilt squares at head and foot of spine, double frame of purple and tawny mosaic morocco strips segmented by a repeated pattern of three black mosaic morocco rectangles and three gilt squares, endpapers and pastedowns of olive green watered silk with double gilt fillet frames, small gilt circles and, at corners, vegetal motifs consisting of brown mosaic morocco pieces, following endpapers of marbled paper with watered and gilt effect, covers and spine preserved, all edges gilt, slipcase bordered with faded dark green morocco, beige felt interior, marbled paper boards, elegant contemporary mosaic binding signed Cretté successor to Marius Michel. Handsome copy elegantly executed.
