New edition published five years after the original of 1836, decorated with a frontispiece, several plates after Marckl and engraved by Quartley, Dujardin and Piaud, with vignettes and tailpieces. Half green shagreen Empire binding, smooth spine decorated with gilt rococo ornaments, triple gilt fillets on boards and corners, all edges gilt. Joint at foot of front board slightly cracked. Some discreet foxing. Handsome copy elegantly bound in a contemporary Empire binding.
