First edition, illustrated with a portrait and ten fine engravings by Adrien Moreau (eight of which are full-page) engraved by A. Lamothe. Limited to 500 copies, numbered 160, one of 349 on petit papier Velin du marais. The first 150 copies are on Grand Velin or Japan paper.
Contemporary half brown glazed morocco binding with corners signed David. Spine with raised bands handsomely decorated, date at foot. Orange covers preserved. At the end of the work is bound the prospectus comprising one engraving and one page of text. Foxing on the half-title and portrait, thereafter a perfectly fresh copy.
