First edition, superbly illustrated by Léon Lebègue with 44 illustrations in gold and colors (chromolithographs) including 9 full-page plates. Copy marked HC, hors commerce. Vellum printing. The justification states 161 deluxe copies including 100 vellum, 60 China paper and 1 Japan paper. Covers and spine preserved. Fine printing by the Draeger brothers.
Contemporary half-brown shagreen binding with corners in burgundy cloth slipcase. Smooth spine decorated with a pattern of small rosettes and small tools within blind-ruled frames. Ruled fillets on boards. Light traces of rubbing. Spine slightly faded. Very fresh except for some foxing on front cover.
