Publisher's polychrome binding in full navy blue percaline cloth. Superb first cover decorated with a large polychrome plate (blue, red, cream, green, yellow and gold) featuring a walker tipping his straw hat in nature. Lenègre bindery at bottom of the plate. Spine decorated with a large polychrome plate with somewhat faded colors, notably the blue, but the golds remain bright. Handsome second cover decorated with a gilt landscape on beige ground within rich ornament. Discreet restoration to headcaps, particularly at the joints, relatively invisible. Some leaves standing slightly proud.
Very handsome copy of this publisher's binding, with perfectly fresh paper, completely free from foxing.
