first edition printed in 72 numbered copies, ours the only copy on parchment and bearing the N ° 1 of the justification, head print . Partly unpublished fragment of the Red and the Black and "entirely unpublished" analysis of his novel by Stendhal himself. There are also previously unpublished letters from Stendhal to Count Salvagnoli in defense of his work, some under the pseudonym D. Gruffo Papera. Our copy is very complete with its two facsimiles of the manuscript. A small tear without gravity restored at the foot of the back also with a tiny lack in the head. Unique and beautiful copy. Provenance: Library of Doctor Lucien-Graux.
