First edition, printed in 500 numbered copies. « Le papier nécessaire à la fabrication de cet ouvrage fut offert par Gallimard, mais on ne put tirer que 258 exemplaires et non 500 comme l'annonce l'achevé d'imprimer » (according to a note by Paul Eluard).
Illustrated with 11 photographs of Nusch Eluard, who had died tragically only a few months earlier, by Man Ray and Dora Maar.
Le Temps déborde is a collection of 11 poems published in 1947, only a few months after the sudden and unexpected death of Nusch, Paul Eluard's companion. This ode to their seventeen years together is illustrated with striking portraits of Nusch, captured in all her radiant beauty. This poetic memorial is thus accompanied by images of extraordinary emotional intensity. In 1965, Aragon, paying tribute to his friend, recalled his discovery of this masterpiece:
Rare and attractive copy.
