Contemporary half-chocolate shagreen binding. Smooth spine decorated with 2 mirrored tools connected by dotted fillets, 5 rolls forming compartments. Author, title and date gilt. Top edge gilt. Original wrappers preserved, the first with some soiling. Spine slightly faded. Fine copy.
This novel by the author inaugurates the "conversion" trilogy, which will continue with La cathédrale and L'oblat. A spiritual work, perfectly oneiric and narcissistic in the manner of A rebours.
