First edition, very rare, illustrated with 12 lithographs by Deveria and Johannot (men and women in period costumes). Not listed in Carteret who nevertheless records all romantic collections. In the Bibliographie Sommaire Des Keepsakes (Frédéric Lachèvre) and other collective collections of the romantic period, on this album listed: "Exceptionally, given the rarity of this work, we give the titles of the pieces that compose it."
Full cardboard Bradel binding early 20th century in glazed tender green signed Lavaux at the top of the first endpaper. Superb pastiche of a period binding using romantic tools. Smooth spine decorated with rocaille ornaments. Brown morocco title label. Illustrated front cover preserved. Superb paper in perfectly fresh condition. One discreet restoration to the back of a lithograph filling a tear.
This collection contains several texts in first edition: Un bal masqué by Alexandre Dumas, which will appear in the 1835 collection of short stories Souvenirs d'Antony.; Les pressentimens by Petrus Borel; Emma by Gustave Drouineau; Un bal de noces by Emile Deschamp; Physiologie d'un appartement by Eugène Sue; other contributions by Paul Jacob, Jules Janin on the fashion of letters and arts in 1832, notably lithography... Very fine romantic illustration. Janet, perhaps alone, made the bet for his album of French illustration while fashion sacrificed to English engravers and draughtsmen.
